The pictures for the Converting Wavs article have all been changed to accomodate the v11.5 release of dBpoweramp. It is now being recommended that everyone use this older version of dBpoweramp to convert their sounds to wav format. The newer release causes a 'hissing' sound in songs for some reason. So until Illustrate (the company who makes dBpoweramp) can fix this, you should be using v11.5.

Adjusted the Bass/Volume article. There is now 1 method to reduce bass and volume that should work fine for all sounds that are too loud for the mic for whatever reason. Added GoldWave 5.20 (latest) to the downloads section. Added a tutorial on how to set up HLSS for Zombie Master.

The new Steam update for the Source engine has been released! Now you can play .wav files over the microphone with good quality in Source based games! However, you must re-convert your sounds differently than you did before in order for them to play correctly, or they will sound fast-paced. I would recommend converting the ORIGINAL file instead of .wavs that you had already converted in the past, or you might experience problems with quality. I have updated the site tutorials and articles to accommodate the new codec. Click here to participate in our thread about this new patch. The new settings you must use when playing .wavs in all Source mods are: 16 Bit (CD) | 11025Hz | 1 'Mono' Have fun! And thank you VALVe for finally fixing the mic quality in Source games!

Great news from VALVe was released in last Friday's news update: We'll be releasing an update soon to both text chat and voice communication in the Source Engine that will improve communication for people in multiplayer games. We've completely rebuilt the text chat system, adding the ability to browse your chat history right in the chat window and a filter to remove messages that clutter your game screen. Voice communication will be getting a huge boost in quality, so if you have a microphone sitting on the corner of your desk collecting dust, now would be a good time to plug it back in. This is of course great news for HLSS if they improve the quality in Source games considering we have been stuck with poor mic quality along! Of course, we all hope the changes they make still allow us to use the most important command that makes HLSS possible: voice_inputfromfile
